In my article, 10,000 Reasons to Fail, I explained that failure is merely an event and is temporary.
Everyone fails in life. We were set up for failure from the beginning when Adam and Eve failed to obey God's command. While some may see that as defeating, it is actually quite liberating to know that we are all in the same boat! But, God made a way through His son, Jesus Chirst, to no longer be a failure.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:13
This doesn't mean we will not fail. It simply means that when we do, He picks us up and extends grace and mercy - giving us a second, third, fourth...one millionth chance to get up and get going, again.
Being a failure is another ball game, however.
Choosing to be a failure is a very toxic and terminal mindset that will kill and destroy you, literally. Those with a failure mentality don't succeed at life because they enjoy being the victim. They feel the cards are stacked against them, and instead of learning from failure, they allow failure to become their label.
They often point the finger at everyone else, making excuses for why their lives are so miserable, when in reality, the only person they need to point the finger at is the one in the mirror.
Some of the greatest people I have ever met have had a number of failures in life. Take for instance, Nick Vujicic. Born with a rare disorder, known as Phocomelia, which is characterized by the absence of legs and arms. As a child, not only did he struggle physically, he struggled mentally and emotionally as well. He eventually came to terms with his disability. Today, he travels the world, sharing his story and motivating others to get back up, again.
Watch him share his story with school students:
Nick has not allowed his disability or failures in life keep him down. He turned his disability into an ability - an ability to change people's lives and influence young people in a very dramatic way!
You, too, can stop being a failure by simply never quitting.
Remember the old adage that "winners never quit and quitters never win?"
It's true. The only difference between winners and failures is that winners learned how to win by failing over and over, again, until they got it right.
Failure is your greatest training resource. You will learn more from your failures than you ever will your successes. Why? Because successes are easy once they are mastered. Failure is painful, yet often more memorable than the successes.
Athletes competing for the Olympics must endure great pain to force their bodies into submission so they qualify for the best of the best competitions.
Academy Award winning actors must endure many failures, disappointments, and rejection in order to one day receive the Oscar, solidifying their status as one of the best.
No one gets to the top by quitting. No one succeeds by dropping out of the race. You are a winner! Go ahead, tell yourself that.
How do I know? Because God don't make no junk! To consider yourself anything less than a winner is to offend the very Creator who designed you after His own purpose. You need to stop allowing others' negativity and your own self-doubt and hatred to offend the heart of God and His plan for you.
God doesn't see you as a loser. No deformity, disability, malfunction, or dysfunction can stop Him from loving you or seeing you as the winner He created you to be!
Now, get up and get going. Stop letting failure bring you down and stop making excuses for failure. It's your enemy, not your friend!
You fail because you allow failure to be your friend and bedfellow. Kick failure out of your house and your life permanently!
Here's a verse to encourage you...
For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ says the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and I will [free you and] gather you from all the nations.
